And of course, if your puchased it “on the cheap”, it may not have been a legitimate copy in the first place – some unscrupulous vendors were selling Volume Licenced copies of the software to unsuspecting purchasers.

It was a several disc set I purchased at the college bookstore under a flash sale and a student discount. This site in other languages x.

What I understood from Microsoft Singapore Technical Support is that because I reformatted the old laptop without uninstalling first, I need an installer to reactivate again I only bought one licence. However, I did search online and past forums indicated that as long as there is only one active usage of the licence the old laptop would be deactivated it would only recognise my new laptop as the active usage of this licence.

I am using my disc as an installer. If it is damaged although there are no scratches , is there any way that I can download an online version? Hope Microsoft is able to provide me with an installer so that I can reactivate my Microsoft Office on my new laptop. You should be able to install it if you have the media and the correct 25 digit product key. In that respect a downloaded version is no different from a disc version.

It is validation of the installed product that may prove a problem and that would depend on the licence conditions – however I seem to recall that Pro Plus versions were transferrable and could be installed on 2 PCs concurrently. Even after upgrading to Wins 10 it has no issue. I only bought 1 licence – and today MS technical support told me i need the installer to install. But it should not apply to your license type. The “no phone activation” message started showing up the end of last year.

Seems like MS is trying to stop providing phone activation. People with licenses from to have reported this problem. BUT, after getting this message some people have been able to go on and do a phone activation. Try again Try from a different computer, like a friends. All you need is to get the displayed phone number, you don’t have to continue beyond that point.

There is an associated issue with phone activation. The phone number displayed when it is displayed is specific for your geographic location so there is no single number we can provide. It is NOT version specific. I stand corrected. In another similar question MS has acknowledged this is a “known issue” and have provided a KB article that will provide you with the phone activation number appropriate for your geographic location.

Firstly, I’m not getting this error message. As for you suggestions on what I can do, I can’t contact my ISP they definitely won’t help with this issue! None of the Microsoft links provided here or from online search were of any help. I spoke to the helpdesk and they say the product is out of support and couldn’t be of any help though I had the order and the product key.
