E-learning should be about creating content that is actually relevant to the learner and will help move learners and achieve personal and corporate goals. Publishing one single slide in Captivate generates more than The most current jQuery version is 1. Why is it that if I animate 3 circles using effects in Captivate it plays perfectly well on my computer, but on my iPad Air 2 I get serious lags and timing issues?
If I develop something in Captivate I expect it to look and work the same way on the device as when I preview it in Captivate. This is not the case now and that is one of the major problems as I see it.
I plan on doing a performance comparison of different eLearning tools and plain HTML5 in the near future and will make a post about it when it is ready. Ask yourself a core question — how much development have you seen that looked incredible but had ZERO learning value?
Captivate 9 — 8 versions since RoboHelp. How many quiz types do we have? Wait, wait they knock my socks off. Are there six or so? But how many have time to explore that limitlessness.
And when did cute and pretty become evidence based learning? In Captivate, when you name an object, it’s the only name allowed to be used throughout all of your slides in a single project. You cannot use the same exact name for an object from slide to slide.
Even if you delete an object you can’t use the name. In Storyline 2, when you name an object, you can name any object anything for each slide. You can even name more than one object the same thing which is a little weird that it doesn’t stop you from doing that, but the visual linkage to objects makes that not be an issue for the most part.
This is one of the major things that adds frustration to using Captivate over SL2. For me at least, Adds time as I have to be really disciplined in my object naming practices.
As for the difference in how objects are named and ordered, if you’d like to see a difference in the set up it’s something you’re welcome to share your thoughts on in the form of a feature request. The list you gave, mostly speaks about the new features in Captivate 9, but not the high end differences.
As for the feature request, I imagine they’re getting sick of my requests by now. I have put in a lot! We’re always happy to have your feature requests – regardless of how many!

You can include custom JavaScript files by adding them to the Captivate template folder, which Captivate uses to generate your published project. In that folder, you can drop a custom. Under the assets directory should be a good place. Enter a full name for the account for example, type test.

If Font Book crashes, restart Font Book, and scroll through the fonts one by one to determine which font caused the crash. Use the Down Arrow key to select the first font, then hold the key down to scroll through all your fonts. I’m not going to delve into how to create a Video Demo here it’s really easy Instead, I want to focus on some of the production nuances you’ll encounter in this kind of project. Editing a video is very different than editing either a standard or responsive project.
I’m not saying it’s more difficult than those other modes, I’m just saying it’s different. For instance, there isn’t a Filmstrip in a Video Demo. Instead, you’re editing horizontally on a single Timeline. This is a very similar environment to TechSmith Camtasia so if you’ve used Camtasia before you’ll feel right at home here.
One of the things I’m happy to report is that even though you’ve recorded a video, you still have significant mouse controls just like you’d see in a standard project. Of course, at first glance it does not appear you have any mouse controls at all.
In the image below, notice the Timeline does not offer any clues as to where the mouse points might be. At that point, if you select the mouse point you can then use the Properties Inspector to double the size of the mouse, hide it, and even smooth out its path. Another less than obvious feature is the ability to insert a mouse pointer where one wasn’t recorded.
Lastly, and perhaps the coolest, is the ability to alter that location of the recorded mouse pointer just like you can in a standard simulation. Simply drag the mouse pointer as shown in the image below. When adding audio to a Captivate project, you can add audio in a couple of different ways. For instance, you can import audio directly to a project’s background or onto a slide. In the image below, audio was added to a few slides. You can easily tell that audio has been added to a slide via the audio icon in the lower right of the slide.
Here’s a quick challenge for you. The image below is a closer view of slide 2 shown in the image above as a thumbnail. Notice that there are several objects on the slide. Some of the objects include audio.
Can you quickly identify which objects have audio and which do not? The answer to the challenge above is no. While it’s easy to see the slides that have audio via the Filmstrip , there’s no obvious way to see object-level or background audio.
Never fear In the image below, you can quickly determine which slides have audio and if there’s Background or project-level audio.
While useful information, you still cannot tell which if any slide objects have audio. Another quick click and you’ll have that issue resolved And like magic, the Advanced Audio Management dialog box displays audio for everything! Step away from the issue!
Ask someone else for advice. Give detailed info about the issue. So, if you expect someone else to help you debug an issue for, you need to give them everything you know about the issue and its context.
