The Preview Window has four quality and size setting combinations that have a big influence on the playback quality. Setting everything to the highest settings is a recipe for failure, so try reducing the quality settings until the lag disppears. In the video below I will show you exactly what to do. Having this turned ON will definitely improve the playback quality. Once again, I show how to do this in the video below. Then once you have finished all your editing you then replace the SD Versions back with the original HD Video files and render your project with them.
Proxy Video Editing should totally eliminate any lag in the Preview Window. Buy the latest version of Vegas Pro here! Download Now! Movie Studio Zen is a fully independent site and all our content is free. You can help support this site by making a PayPal donation. Stay Logged In.

Another suggestion is to increase the Ram usage in preview settings if you have high ram. That should help t Derek Szia! Intel core i7 laptopom van. Hi I have tried any-video-converter as you suggest, but do not see a mpeg2 option, if that is not available what else can I try as my 4K footage is so stuttery in play to make editing very hard?
This is now an old and out of date tutorial. Which exact version of Vegas are you using? Sorry if this is out of context Derek.. I have been experimenting with various ways to render out video footage to format. From what I can see there are only 2 options Obviously crop provides the most satisfying end result unless of course you really need to keep all of the headroom in a clip.
Stretch on the other hand can be done at a project level so is less hassle. Is there a quicker way to crop? Does MS15 have any ability to control the horizontal dynamic stretching? You must crop a video to convert it to Aspect Ratio. There is a shortcut you can use, to speed up the process. After you have applied a crop to your first video, right-click that video on the timeline and select COPY. Now select a new video that you want to apply the same crop to. Now right-click on this new group of videos and select PASTE Event Attributes – all your crops and key-frames will be copied in one go.
Every time I use it the preview window is different. When I add a effect and wants to preview how it looks, most of the time half of the screen is rock solid and doesn’t move. While tonight I only saw a square on top of the left corner move. I find it really annoying having to rendering every change I make to see how it looks. Thank you. This is a bug with Vegas that only affects some people.
I don’t know if Steam versions work differently for updating. Thank you for the quick answer! Everything is up to date and I did the layout change.
I had apparantly marked in there somehow wich made it “marked”. Managed to unmark the preview screen so everything is visible again! Thank you again so much! My display specs are now randomly stuck at xx32 while my project is xx32 at Thanks very much for your advice.

If your footage is being opened by this “so4compoundplug” decoder, you might get improved performance by disabling it. See this post for more information. If not then re-enable it for wider format support. Your media storage might be a bottleneck if your files are particularly large, for example 4k files with low compression. This is something not clear for me about “Deinterlace method” : if you are working with Progressive footage so selected in Project Properties there will be no to deinterlacing happenings even if “Interpolate fields” or “Blend fields” is selected in Project Properties.
Am I wrong to think so? No, you are correct. I had a feeling that the deinterlace method setting still had some obscure effect even if working with progressive footage in a progressive project, but I can’t find any reference to that. So I’ve removed the reference to setting the deinterlace method “none” for progressive footage. I’ve also moved that section down the article, below other more important considerations. Thanx Nick! Lots of good advice there. Like others, I’d upgrade processor power and upgrade video card s and get the same results.
